In the last week I have been doing small tasks for the main "projects" I'm dong in the next month.  I have been editing the VSLA manual and highlighting important information and trying weed through the 75 page beast I use to create the powerpoints.  I have also been trying to develop more about my story board, which has proven harder that it sounds.  I recently have been tyring to communicate with members of U-TOUCH because I don't have any of the videos I should and it is frusterating to try and create a video without any video clips.  Hipefully I will hear back soon.

Today I spent an hour mapping out what I am going/hoping to make for my video. I created a concept for each little mini video.  I want to make about 3-4 mini videos and hopefully be able to combine them into a "DVD" type thing.
My four chapters will hopefully be:
1. History of the War
2. U-TOUCH creation/development
3. Change/Hope for the Future
4. Donations, Fundraisers, Involvement

In all four of these chapters I will be using video from youtube, that I personally took in Uganda and videos from past years.  I hope that I can create a good video to give out and after this brainstorms I feel like I have all my ducks in a row.

Today I had a meeting with Deb and Elizabeth and Barbara (the Business experts in the organization) about how the programs are doing on the ground and how we plan to create more communication using the e-Mentoring program and social networks.  We plan to have video conferences monthly and Facebook group chats more often to answer questions and discuss entrepreneurship, VSLA and business topics and how to actualize peoples plans.  The meeting, though long, was very productive and I think a lot of good things will come out of it.  Towards the end, I discussed with my mentor the possibility of getting teachers or parents included in the e-Mentoring community.  I also hope to be able to conduct a fundraiser to raise enough money to fund the computers for any of the 6 new digital library centers created this summer and a DVD to give out when people donate or buy a product during the fundraiser using video from this summer and previous trips to Uganda.  I am very excited to continue working with U-TOUCH and all of its members.

Today I was planning on having a meeting with my mentor Deb Plotkin and a few other board members about the direction the business and VSLA enrichment programs were going since the number of Digital Libraries have double.  However, because Deb has a million things to do in so little time other meetings came up so we had to postpone our original meeting.  Things still ended up working out because one of the other meetings that came up was about youth leaders and how to integrate U-Touch into schools.  She invited me to this meeting and it was held at Marlon McCree's house.  He is partnering his own non-profit with U-Touch and wants to have a large part in the youths participation.  As a hugggeee sports fan I was excited to be able to meet with Marlon and the opportunity to talk with him.  There were about 10-15 other students there that have the same interests and passion for African issues that I do and it was interesting to be able to talk to them about there experiences and also share mine.   As a group we talked about the organization and the direct the schools groups will be taking.  It was informative and also very exciting and fun.  Overall, a very good experience.

I am excited to work with U-Touch again.  Over the summer, I had one of the best experiences of my life.  It obviously won't be the same working in San Diego as it was working in Gulu, but being with the organization and being in contact with my friends in Uganda will be great.  I went to Uganda not really knowing what I was going to be doing and what I would get out of it.  But after the first minutes in Uganda I was instantly welcomed by everyone and the people I went with and the people I met became my family.  I am really excited to be close with them again because with school, volleyball and the ten hour time difference, it is hard to stay in contact.  To say the least I'm excited and can't wait to jump right back into what I've been doing with my second family.

I live in Kensington and am a part of District CA-53.  The representative for my district is Susan Davis.  Below are a few of here positions on the issues of health care, education, immigration, and womens rights:
She is strongly invested in our school system and believes that in addtion to students teachers should be supported to create better school system. She wants the government and the people to aid the teachers because that will help the quality of edcuation better.
She also beleives that the women should be given equal pay and be supported in their health desicions. She supports the production of health and birth centers and strongly supports educaiton about pregnancy.
Similarly, Susan beleives that everyone should be given the health care that they need and that they can afford.
In terms of immigraton, Susan thinks that the borders should be tightly control to ensure the saftey of the United States.  The normalization of the border will help create a safe envoirment for the society.
I would vote for Susan Davis because I agree with a majority of her platforms and agree on her overall stance of equality.  I beleive that if I were given the opportunity I would have many of the same political platforms as her.  Although I don't agree with everything she stands for the amount that I do agree with out weighs what I don't.

Since we were told about Volunteership, I immediatly thought of the non-profit organization that I interned with over the summer.  U-TOUCH is an organization that brings computers and creates computer hubs in Northern Uganda.  While working in Uganda this summer, I created materials and PowerPoints for Village Savings and Loans Assocation (VS&LA) classes. During my volunteership, I will continue to create  materials for the classes, as well as learn about the business program and collaborate with students in Ugnada.
